How To

Centerpieces: Clothesline Photo Timeline

MaterialsStep One: The Materials

Small Terra Cotta Pots
Dowel Sticks
Clothes Pins
Design Master's Spray - Hyacinth

Painted MaterialsStep Two: Spray Paint the Materials

Spray paint all sides of the pots, clothes pins and dowel sticks. Make sure and paint the inside of the terra cotta pots as well.

Fill PotsStep Three: Fill the Pots

Once all of the items have had adequate time to dry thoroughly, fill the pots with heavy rocks. Don't skimp on this as the rocks will stabilize and weigh down the pots, allowing the photos to hang on the "line."

Next, cut a piece of flower foam to fit tightly inside of the pot. Again, make sure it is tight or else the dowel will tip sideways.

Daisies in potStep Four: Decorate the Pots

Next, push the dowel sticks into the center of the floral foam firmly and make sure the dowel sticks are all at the same height.

The day of the party, cut daisies close to the flower and insert around the base of the dowel. If you have cut a square of floral foam, the daisy stems will fill nicely in the open spaces between the foam and the pot.

String on PotStep Five: Add the String

Finally, take a glue dot and wrap around the top of the stick. Wrap lightweight nylon string around on the glue dot two or three times.

Repeat as you move from pot to pot leaving about 15" of string between the pots.

Photo ClotheslineThe Final Product!

Now you have a great centerpiece where you can visually portray your birthday girl’s life-in-progress with fond photos and memories.
Make sure and make the display interesting by:
Varying the size of the photos
Attaching some photos directly to the dowel
Attach smaller photos to a corner or another photo
And accenting the dowel stick directly with a photo or daisy.
